"I can't not do books."

hadn't seen this before; it's just completely splendid

i have been wanting so badly to make books with
children again; used to teach little art classes, and we
would make simple books and sew them together and
it was sort of a dream. i wish more children knew that
they could make a little book out of scraps of paper &
some nice fat thread, and it would be an excellent way
to start off becoming an author.

all children are storytellers.

how could they not be great at making little books? it
ought to be a child's birthright. scraps of paper and a
little string and some crayons. that's all they need. oh. &
maybe a grown-up who will sit nearby to listen and
help with a few things? twenty minutes, max. try it.

only one rule: the book has to be imperfect. it has to
be the child's very own book, and no one else's. just
listen. (& maybe help with punching holes for string.)
